From Galerie Marek to Galerie Marek&Sons In January 1986, Marek Mielniczuk, known as Monsieur Marek, founded Galerie Marek in Paris and set up shop at the famous Louvre des Antiquaires, located at 2 Place du Palais Royal, a major hub of the art market at the time. There, he exhibited and championed the work of artists from the École de Paris. As a trusted confidant of the artists’ families and descendants, he was entrusted with the management and sale of private collections sourced directly from the artists’ families.

The Marek Gallery moved to 21 Rue de Miromesnil in Paris’s famous Golden Triangle. Over the course of its three-year operation, the gallery held four exhibitions, showcasing major artists of the École de Paris such as Eugène Zak, Moïse Kisling, Tadé Makowski, Mela Muter, Léopold Gottlieb, Adolphe Feder, and many others. During this period, Marek Mielniczuk built several significant private collections, including two notable ones: the Ewa and Wojtech Fibak Collection (New York-Paris) and the collection of the Polish-American Tom Podl (Seattle). The building of these collections, his connections with artists’ families, and the creation of a specialized library established him as an expert with a deep understanding of the works of the artists of the École de Paris.

In 1991, Marek Mielniczuk moved to the Château de Kergroades in Finistère, where he hosted numerous exhibitions featuring major works by painters of the École de Paris. He welcomed collectors visiting France to the estate.

At the time, it was one of the most important art galleries in Poland. Polish collectors built their collections of sculptures and paintings by artists of the École de Paris through the Marek Gallery. At that time, Marek Mielniczuk was vice president of the Polish Chamber of Antique Dealers.

The gallery is moving to Warsaw’s most prestigious location, on the former Royal Route—Krakowskie Przedmieście.

Marek&Sons was founded by Maurice Mielniczuk, drawing on a specialty and passion passed down through his family since childhood: the purchase, sale, appraisal, and consultation of works by painters of the École de Paris, particularly those from Central and Eastern Europe who came to France from the late 1880s through the 1980s. This work is carried out in accordance with the highest standards of expertise. From a very young age, Maurice Mielniczuk received training from his father, Marek Mielniczuk. Building on a family legacy of knowledge and internationally recognized expertise, he has established himself as an authority on the analysis of works by painters of the École de Paris. The extensive documentation, archives, and specialized library on the artists of the École de Paris passed down by Marek Mielniczuk are an indispensable resource for his expertise.

Élise Vignault has joined the gallery, bringing her expertise as a researcher and art historian.

Participation in the Young Antique Dealers Fair at the Espace Pierre Cardin, featuring paintings by artists from the École de Paris such as Rafał Malczewski, Wladimir de Terlikowski, Adolphe Milich, Henri Hayden, Sonia Lewitska, Mania Mavro, and Maryan.
